Janet McAlpin, a well-known local performer and a founder of both UMO Ensemble and the Open Space for Arts & Community, will bring another installment of her burlesque show back to the Island this weekend.

This installment is called “Burlesco Notturno — Little Black Slip” and will feature burlesque and music acts that have made a name for themselves in Seattle and beyond. The Love Markets, a band that plays the decadent music of Weimar, Germany, will take the stage to perform original music and standards of that era — a time between the two world wars when culture flourished in Berlin. Dancers Lily Verlaine and Paris Original will appear, and the show will also have acrobatics aplenty. Sally Pepper will perform “cloud swing,” an aerial act that has elements of trapeze as well as drops and holds. Another act, Dr. Calamari and Acrophelia, will perform acro-balancing.

McAlpin will emcee the saucy proceedings, assisted by David Godsey, playing her lawyer.
