Maijah performs
Island-raised pop star Maijah will return to her hometown to headline a dance party to celebrate her debut EP, “Star-Fairy,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Vashon Center for the Arts. Maijah’s show promises charming lyrics, powerhouse vocals, and divine feminine energy — including openers Eva Cain and Stella Mar.
With musical influences including Doja Cat, Amy Winehouse, Jorja Smith, Sabrina Claudio, and Adele, Maijah brings a jazz and R&B-inspired style to the table while introducing fresh ideas of current pop.

Bric/Brac Music and Arts Festival
A new music festival, presented by Open Space for Arts & Community, Mode Music and the Vera Project to benefit young artists, will launch in early August at Open Space for Arts & Community.
The Bric/Brac Music and Arts Festival, directed by island musician Mike Dumovich, will raise money for local music and arts programs that support the mission to inspire creativity among Vashon youth.
This year, the proceeds will benefit Mode Music scholarships and the ORBIT all-ages space at Open Space for Arts & Community.
Performers in the inaugural edition of the festival include Naked Giants, Caitlan Sherman, Julia Shapiro, and the Seattle band It’s All Happening.
The festival will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, outdoors at Open Space. Get tickets, which are by donation, and find out more at openspacevashon.org/event/bric-brac-2022.
