Reggie Miles will play a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at Café Luna. Miles is a songwriter, singer, storyteller and slide guitarist who described his music as including “earthy vocals, finger pickin’ and bottleneck slidin’ on a homemade resophonic guitar blended with the rhythmic moans of harmonica, while foot stompin’ abounds.” Miles has appeared with John Lee Hooker, Clifton Chenier, Sunnyland Slim, Elizabeth Cotton, Delbert McClinton, Johnny Rivers, Lee Oscar and The Kingston Trio.

Big Dogs, Terrordactyls, and The Pharmacy will play a benefit for the Vashon High School Literary Journal on Friday, Jan. 8, at Vashon High School. Tickets — $10 in advance and $15 at the door — are on sale at Thriftway, Café Luna, Books by the Way, and in the Vashon High School office.

Drama Dock will hold auditions for “The Revenge of the Dinosaur Lady” and “Oklahoma.” from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 9, and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at the Vashon High School theater. “Revenge,” a “serious comedy,” has three female and three male roles for young and middle-aged adults, while “Oklahoma” will boast a large cast of all ages. Students returning to college before Jan. 9 are encouraged to audition for “Oklahoma” by appointment by contacting Elizabeth Anthony at 463-2288 or Gaye Detzer at detzerubicz@comcast.net.
