Several Island musicians have been invited to play in an upcoming music festival that coincides with the Sundance Film Festival, and Islanders will have a chance to send them off in style at a benefit show this weekend.

Robyn Landis, as well as the Island bands Troll’s Cottage, Song and Legend and The Diggers, will play a show dubbed “From Vashon with Love: A Celebration of Music” at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi.

Tickets to the show are $15 and can be purchased at the door, Vashon Bookshop and Books by the Way.

Proceeds from the concert will go toward helping Landis, Troll’s Cottage and Song and Legend travel to play in the Synchronize Music Festival, which takes place Jan. 21 to 31, in Park City, Utah, during the Sundance Film Festival.

Oasis Entertainment, which is organizing the festival, described its aim as “connecting philanthropists, human rights and social reform activists along with global leaders, social media networks, celebrity philanthropists, musicians and artists to communicate beyond the borders.”

Song and Legend is a duo comprised of Islander Bob Koch and Rod Smith.

Landis is a well-known Island singer and songwriter who was the grand prize winner of the 2009 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

Troll’s Cottage, led by Islander Jacob Bain, has toured widely and has an enthusiastic following in the Northwest and beyond.
