Yogoman Burning Band, a Bellingham-based group that has been inspired by Jamaican rap, New Orleans brass, early punk and Caribbean and African rhythms, will play at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.

Pete Welch, who is the music booker at the Bike, described The Burning Band as “a live six-piece group with an upbeat and positive rock-steady soul and reggae sound that has crowds dancing throughout the Northwest and down the coast.”

Recently, the band has been on the road, touring and sharing the stage with the likes of Clinton Fearon, Dengue Fever, the Cave Singers, the Dusty 45’s and many others musicians and bands.

The group’s front man and drummer is Jordan Rain, who has filled the band with some of Bellingham’s best musicians.

Welch said that the group’s horn section — including saxophone, cornet and trombone — “really brings the band’s energy together,” and he predicted that Islanders will fill the dance floor on the evening of the show.

The show has a cover charge of $5, and is an all-ages event until 11 p.m.

After 11 p.m., the Red Bike turns into a venue for ages 21 and older only.
