I would like to correct an inaccuracy that was the result of my faulty memory. The first is that I, as a member and now president of the Drama Dock board, was invited to several planning meetings but sometimes could not attend. I attended at least two meetings.

I would also like to stress that Drama Dock values its partnership with the Blue Heron and is pleased to stage our winter show in that venue, as we have done for many years. We appreciate the opportunity to perform in the Blue Heron’s more intimate space, and the VAA staff has been great to work with. Next December we will be presenting “A Christmas Carol” there. However, because Drama Dock does not make money (and sometimes falls short) at the Blue Heron and because of the Blue Heron’s busy calendar, we have found it practical to use it only once a year.

I want to acknowledge VAA’s efforts to solicit ideas from Drama Dock about the Vashon Center for the Arts and to thank them for incorporating much of Drama Dock’s wish list in their plans. The information in your article about VAA’s hope to keep user fees as low as possible is good news to all those in the community who have been anticipating a new and elegant performance hall. I urge everyone who cares about the arts to be very generous when the fundraising campaign for the Vashon Center for the Arts begins.
