Pampas grass does not belong here

I suspect that Washingtonians in general, and the inhabitants of Vashon Island in particular, consider themselves to be more environmentally conscious than most Americans.

I suspect that Washingtonians in general, and the inhabitants of Vashon Island in particular, consider themselves to be more environmentally conscious than most Americans. I do not consider myself to be a bunny or a tree hugger, and I am not allergic to it, but I am concerned about all of the pampas grass on Vashon Island.

Pampas grass (Cortaderia selloana) is terribly invasive, and it also releases vast amounts of allergy-causing pollen. Pampas grass does not belong in the Pacific Northwest or anywhere else in the United States for that matter.
