The staff at Vashon Community Care helped me acquire the skills and confidence to successfully leave their assisted living program. While preparing to leave, I knew I would need outside support to continue to take care of myself. Being new to Vashon, I also knew I would need friends. When I opened the door at Vashon Senior Center, I found both.
I opened the door to the healthier, happier life I have today. Being an active member of the Senior Center has given me a reason to get out of the house each day. Socializing with friends at lunch and listening to Joe tell a new joke are now the highlights of my day, not TV. The volunteering I do has increased my sense of worth. Also, I play bocce ball and Family Feud, watch current movies, play cards, go gambling and tulip viewing, do Wii bowling and take craft and laughing classes. The Senior Center and Vashon Community Care can breathe new life into your days, as they have mine.
If you feel your days lack quality, you can change direction. There is an energy at VSC and VCC that can make your senior years more than just a waiting room.
