Letter to The Editor | November 7 edition

A reader responds to The Beachcomber’s election endorsements.

Editor’s note: This letter was received prior to the Nov. 5 election and appears in the Nov. 7 edition of The Beachcomber — which was put together and sent to the presses on Tuesday afternoon, prior to ballot boxes closing in the election.

THE BEACHCOMBER

Editorial misguided

The editorial in the October 31 issue of The Beachcomber stated, “…There is no realistic path to victory for a third party this time around…” That thinking is the same as in the year 2000 when the words were, “A vote for Nader is a vote for Bush.” Your editorial is evidence of the myopic views of liberals and progressives and is the reason why we don’t have a viable third party or even a Democratic Party that represents us.

“No realistic path?” Of course not, and we never will. Democrats know they’ll get our vote no matter what they do.

So what do they do? Kamala Harris says she will not stop sending arms to Israel. Translation, she will not prevent Israel from murdering Palestinians, including children. She is the garbage that The Beachcomber is recommending to its readers.

Beachcomber, you may claim you’re just expressing a practical view of the election. Sorry, but your practical approach ignores the murder of children. By the way, did you know that Kamala Harris accepted a $5,000,000 bribe, er, ah I mean donation from the Israel lobby.

If the left had begun really supporting the Green Party in 2000, then we would have a strong party supporting us today. But thanks to the kind of short-sighted thinking in The Beachcomber, we have a choice between two unacceptable options. Vote for Harris? Sorry but I’m not a baby killer. Yes Beachcomber, it’s that serious and that’s what you have endorsed. I don’t think you realize how corrupt our country is.

I agree that Harris is preferable to Trump on all the issues you mentioned, but that’s all about gimme. The issue of the murder of Palestinian children, trumps (pardon the expression) them all and cries out for a third party vote.
