Letter to the Editor: Islanders should ‘act locally’and vote yes

Array

We write to lend our strongest support for the Vashon schools’ bond proposals. Investing in infrastructure and education are two strong and compelling messages in this year’s State of the Union speech.

For years the Vashon community has epitomized the phrase “Think globally, act locally.” We have a high school that is a shabby and dysfunctional environment. It is past time to upgrade this core facility. With the imminent retirement of the bond to repair Chautauqua, the net cost of giving us the improved high school facility our students and community deserve is 50 cents per day for the average household. We can and should do this.
