Lack of park programs is noteworthy, disappointing

How sad to note the paucity of child programs and camps sponsored by our Vashon Park District. In the 54 offered camps and programs listed in “Island Child,” the park district is only mentioned as the location of three sports camps being sponsored by other entities

How sad to note the paucity of child programs and camps sponsored by our Vashon Park District. In the 54 offered camps and programs listed in “Island Child,” the park district is only mentioned as the location of three sports camps being sponsored by other entities.

Vashon Allied Arts, which receives no levy support, is sponsoring 25 programs, ranging from chess to summer musical theater. Our park district, which receives over $1 million annually in levy funds, appears to sponsor zero programs.

Thanks to the individuals and organizations who sponsor such an array of opportunities for island children.
