We were very sorry to hear that Howard, the beloved guide dog of Lost Lake, is no longer with us (Paid obituary, June 17).

He appeared for most of our hikes there. We’d find him lounging around on 280th, or he’d find us somewhere on the trail. He’d come over for a pat and then get right down to business, leaving us for someone else if we were too slow or going in the wrong direction.

We never met his people, although we looked a couple of times. What a sweet dog. We’ll miss him.
