As the 2012 election nears, I find myself more and more depressed by the lack of actual choice that is being offered to the voters. The issues that matter most to me are never even discussed. Where is climate change? Poverty and homelessness? The endless wars that we can’t pay for? Taxing the rich?
May is Hepatitis Awareness Month. I am a founder and the current president of the Hepatitis Education Project, a nonprofit patient advocacy and education organization in Seattle. We work to spread the word about hepatitis virus infections, particularly hepatitis C, and to counsel patients and families about the resources available to them.
I must take issue with John Cushing’s argument that what we need in Washington state is more tax cuts (“Tax increases are not what we need,” Jan. 20).
