The Nisqually League track and field championships, which took place last Thursday and Friday, showcased athletic talent from Vashon High School and seven other schools that participated in the shadow of Mount Rainier at Orting Middle School.
The Vashon High school track and field team had its strongest showing of the season on Thursday, May 5, when the Vashon girls won their meet at Cascade Christian and the boys placed second.
The Pirate track and field team competed in an exciting five-team meet last Thursday at Orting High School.
Members of Vashon High School’s track and field team decided to switch things up a bit as they traded their usual events for different ones at a meet under sunny skies at Charles Wright Academy on Thursday, April 21. Cascade Christian and Seattle Christian also competed at the meet.
On Thursday, April 14, the Pirate track and field team made the short trip to Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma to take on the host Tarriers along with the Orting Cardinals and the Chimacum Cowboys.

On Thursday, March 24, the Vashon track and field team found themselves a little shorthanded due to finals week as they headed to their second meet of the year at Orting High School. Chimacum and Cascade Christian also competed.
Despite six inches of rain in the first two weeks of March, the enthusiasm of the Vashon High School track and field team was not dampened.
For the first time in four years, Vashon High School’s Pirate cross country team took on Orting High School’s team on the Cardinals’ home course, which consists of three one-mile loops on the Orting campus. Seattle Christian Schools and Mount Rainier Lutheran High School also participated in the meet, which took place on Thursday.
