Aching and tired, yet excited about their success, the members of the Vashon Island Junior Crew (VIJC) team took home more than 30 medals after competing in the US Rowing 2009 Northwest Junior Regional Championship Regatta May 15 to 17 at Vancouver Lake, Wash.
Despite the rain, thousands of spectators showed up to cheer from the banks of the Montlake Cut, the Montlake Bridge and from nearly 300 yachts for their favorite rowers at the Opening Day Regatta on Saturday, May 2.
About 30 miles north of Victoria, British Columbia, Vashon Island Junior Crew competed April 24 to 26 against rowers from all over Canada and the United States at the 2009 Brentwood International Regatta.
