The Pirates fast-pitch softball team had a busy week last week, playing four games in six days. The Pirates finished the week with one win, two losses and one tie.
Last week marked the beginning of the Vashon High School girls fastpitch season. Every new high school season brings a lot of excitement and mystery, with the development of veteran players and the young talent that comes up every year. This season started a little rocky for the Pirates, who dropped their first two games, 11-1 to Seattle Christian, then 8-4 to Eatonville.
The Pirate basketball season came to an end on Saturday with a 60-70 loss to Okanogan High School at the regional championships. Okanogan came into the game boasting a 23-0 record while Vashon came in with an impressive 20-5 record.
This past week was another busy one for the Pirate basketball team as it marched deeper into the playoffs. The Pirates went 2-1 last week, beating The Northwest School and Seattle Christian, but losing to Cascade Christian. Despite the loss, the Pirates are moving on to regionals, which will take place this weekend in eastern Washington.
Last week the Pirate basketball team showed it is a team of warriors. Both of its games were fought all the way to the end, the first one ending in a heartbreaking loss at Eatonville, 66-65. The Friday night game, however, was an intense thriller, as Charles Wright made the trip across the sound and lost to Vashon, 49-45.
Last week the Vashon boys basketball team, still undefeated, improved their winning record to 10-0, beating Bellevue Christian, 65-37, and dominating Chimicum, 67-28. On Tuesday after press deadline, The Pirates traveled to Eeatonville to take on the Eatonville Cruisers.
The Pirates entered this past week undefeated and ranked number one in the Nisqually League. The week’s competition was made up of two road games at Auburn Adventist and Cascade Christian. The Pirates were victorious in both games, defeating Auburn Adventist 77-51, and Cascade Christian 62-38.
The Pirates tipped off the regular basketball season last Wednesday with a home game against Cedar Park Christian. The Pirates were victorious, defeating the Eagles, 65-4
Less then a week after being denied a playoff berth by one loss, the Vashon basketball team returned to the hardwood to win its final game of the season against league rival Charles Wright Academy.
The Pirates basketball team, hoping to qualify for state playoffs, played two must-win games last week. They started off well with a dominant win over Chimacum, but then took a road loss to a tough Eatonville team over the weekend.
