A huge thanks and congratulations to all of the people involved in securing the Maury Island Gravel Pit for purchase by King County! I think I even felt a small earthquake as our Island shuddered in relief!
While it would not be possible to name and credit everyone involved, I would like to propose that we recognize an environmental loss that’s happened so close to this happy victory. I’m so sorry that John Arum didn’t get to see this happen.
Can we honor his contribution, not just to Vashon, but to Washington State’s environment, by calling it the John Arum Park?
