Incendio at Ober Park

The Los Angeles-based band will play all original music rooted in flamenco, rock and jazz at Ober Park from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 24. This is the third consecutive year the band played Vashon’s Summer Concerts in the Park.

Summer Concerts in the Park is sponsored by Vashon Park District, Vashon Allied Arts and Windermere.

The next concert, Aug. 7, will feature Darrius Willrich, a Seattle-area keyboard player who will bring urban soul to Ober Park.

Reggae rocks the Red Bike

Little Big Man, a Seattle-based reggae group that focuses on music that promotes peace, love and unity, will play Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 26.

Three of the band members are from Hawaii. Hawaii is known for relaxed reggae that varies from island to island.

Bass player Jaedo Youn describes the majority of Hawaiian reggae as “pop-inspired,” but said Little Big Man strays away from that. He said their influence is more roots reggae than anything else.

Little Big Man has been sharing its music with crowds in the Northwest region for almost eight years and is constantly trying to expand its reach to infect more people with its message and danceable beats.

The show is for ages 21 and older. The cover charge is $5.

Boogie and blues at Luna

Pianist and composer Rolf Jones-Moore will bring a blend of solo original blues, boogie and jazz pieces to Café Luna from 7:30 to 9:45 p.m. Friday, July 25. The all-ages performance is free.

A highlight of Jones-Moore’s musical career, which spans more than 25 years, was opening for Ray Charles at the Sacramento Blues Festival.

As a composer, Jones-Moore displays several styles. Jazzy blues and boogie dominate, with a touch of classical in a number of his pieces.

Shakespeare by the beach

The Young Shakespeare Workshop, directed by Islander Darren Lay, will perform “The Tempest” at Point Robinson Park at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26.

This lyrical and humorous meditation on love and forgiveness tells the story of Prospero, a magician who is shipwrecked on an island inhabited by spirits and monsters.

Bring a picnic and relax. Admission is free.
