Letter to the Editor: Remember our seniors when you give

Last week we all received a publication about the dire straits for funding schools on Vashon and how much was still to be raised even after the levies.

My wife worked for Vashon School District for about 30 years. I was on the board of the Vashon Ski School for 27 years and have played Santa for the last 15 years. We still love and support kids and education, but we must urge everyone to please remember your island seniors.

We just started a fundraiser for recycling aluminum, copper, brass and broken silver and gold jewelry pieces that will be held for the next four consecutive Saturdays. Last Saturday was our first one, and there were only about six people participating, only one of which was less than 60 years old. We need all ages to keep helping each other in this community.
