Contemporary choreographers perform new works

Vashon Allied Arts has invited six contemporary choreographers to mount short snapshots of new work in a show called “Flashpoint” at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Vashon High School Theater.

Vashon Allied Arts has invited six contemporary choreographers to mount short snapshots of new work in a show called “Flashpoint” at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Vashon High School Theater.

Original choreography by three Seattle groups will feature Zoe|Juniper dancing to Ravel’s Bolero, Ashani Dances performing to music by Philip Glass and Men in Dance Festival featuring only male dancers.

From the island, Ronly Blau will team with composer Joseph Panzetta, marking her first choreographed work in 10 years. Karen Nelson will perform with poet Kristen Tsiatsios, and Elizabeth Mendana Shaw will show new work about five generations of women.
