Organizers extend thanks

The Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts (VME) would like to thank the Vashon-Maury Island community for supporting the 31st Annual Old Bike Rally known as the Isle of Vashon TT.

The Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts (VME) would like to thank the Vashon-Maury Island community for supporting the 31st Annual Old Bike Rally known as the Isle of Vashon TT.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, a brilliant early fall day drew many motorcyclists to the island. While advertising for the rally date is limited to VME membership in the club newsletter, there were more than the 900 who registered for the ride who attended. Prior to the TT, the ferry system and local businesses are notified.

Over the years, the VME continues its contribution to the community by donating to the Vashon-Maury Community Food Bank, including $500 for this year’s event, and through the adoption of Cemetery Road, where we participate in King County’s road cleanup. The Isle of Vashon TT also benefits the Vashon Grappler’s Society, which provides food services at the Sportsmen’s Club, where we value being able to rent their wonderful facility each year.

With a focus on vintage motorcycles, safe riding and a strong emphasis on observing all traffic regulations, we pride ourselves in the manner this large event has been safely managed.

We hope you enjoyed this year’s Isle of Vashon TT as much as we did.

— Jody Heintzman and Richard Campbell, VME members and Vashon residents.
