The McMurray track and field team closed its season on May 25 at North Kitsap High School in the West Sound League Meet.
All seven schools at the meet brought their best athletes to compete, and McMurray placed fourth for both the boys and the girls teams. McMurray took first place in the boys and girls 400 meters, with Jack Brenner and Abigail Kim undefeated for the season. Halimah Griffin took first in the girls’ shot put, and Philip Vandevanter took first in boys’ discus.
But some of the most exciting finishes were saved until the end of the meet: The boys 4×200-meter relay set a McMurray school record of 1:45, and the girls 4×200-meter relay team took first in a photo finish by a margin of three hundredths of a second.
