The Doilys rock on
The Doily Brothers, backed by Island chanteuse Allison Shirk, will play a free show at Red Bicycle Bistro at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10. The band is a Vashon fixture that formed in the 1970s and has been rocking Island audiences ever since. The show is for all ages until 11 p.m., and 21 and older after that.
Friends reunite
Drummer Todd Zimberg will reunite with two of his closest musician friends, guitarist Michael Gotz and bass player Keith Lowe, for a performance at Red Bicycle Bistro at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. The trio, known as Long Lost, plays jazz, rock and blues. The show is free and for all ages until 11 p.m., and 21 and older after that.
Kat and Kate play
Singer/songwriters Kat Eggleston and Kate MacLeod will perform a holiday show at Quartermaster Inn from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. The show is free, but donations for the food bank will be collected.
Lots to do at Luna
Café Luna has several shows and events coming up. At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, Lunavision will present a free screening of the documentary film, “Under Our Skin,” which tackles the subject of Lyme Disease, and is described as a “gripping tale of microbes, medicine and money.”
From 6:30 to 8:30 on Friday, Dec. 10, Vashon Winery will offer a wine tasting. At 7:30 on the same night, a world music group, Hejira, will play a free show from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The band’s instrumentation includes acoustic, bass and electric guitars, tabla, electric oud, keyboards, and percussion. Another band member sings and dances.
The fun will continue the next night, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, when Green Island Bluegrass Band brings a free show of fiddle, guitar, mandolin and banjo music to the café.
