Two days after King County Elections released its first round of results, those results are still holding.
The closest race continues to be between current school board chair Laura Wishik and her opponent, Toby Holmes. Holmes is ahead with 1,514 votes compared to Wishik’s 1,448 votes.
At the Vashon Island School District, incumbent Dan Chasan won his race, currently at 1,802 votes compared to John Osborne’s 1,185 votes.
Zabette Macomber, with 1,858 votes defeated Jake Jacobovitch, who has received 1,152 votes.
At the Vashon Park District race, for position 1, Karen Gardner has received 1,705 votes so far, compared to Rick Skillman’s 1,177 votes.
In Position 3, Bob McMahon has 1,557 votes, compared to Josh Weil’s 1,254 votes.
Position 5 had three candidates. Scott Harvey won with 1,635 votes so far, compared to Peter Ray, who has 947 votes and Bill Ameling, who has 463 votes.
For the board of Vashon Island Fire & Rescue, Brigitte Brown won decisively in Position 3, with 2,384 votes, compared to 540 votes for Tamalyn Nigretto.
Incumbent David Hoffman ran uncontested for Position 5 on the fire board. He has received 1,908 votes. There were 43 votes for write-in candidates for that position, the highest number of any of the local races.
Several other islanders were elected in uncontested races, including Bob Powell at Water District 19, Lisa Devereau for the King County Cemetery District and Don Joy at the Vashon Sewer District. Three islanders were also elected to serve on the board of the King County Airport District: Kaye Pierson, Will Gerrior and Bob Therkelson.
Out of Vashon’s 8,307 registered voters, 4,318 ballots have been received at King County Elections, and 4,219 of those have been counted. King County Elections will next update the results at 4:30 p.m. today.
