A new restaurant opened last week in the former home of the Monkey Tree. Called Giuseppe’s, it serves Italian food in a family-friendly environment. Owner Rebecca Parks will be joined by several familiar faces, including her son Doug Sudduth and a number of people from the Monkey Tree. The husband and wife team of Adam Cone and Megan Hastings-Cone are still there, with Hastings-Cone serving as the chef and Cone serving as the house baker.
The lunch menu features minestrone soup, sandwiches — such as melted feta on focaccia topped with roasted red peppers, garlic aioli and olive tapenade — and a variety of salads. For dinner, highlights include house-made white bean ravioli in arugula pesto, fennel risotta and beef fillets stuffed with provolone and baked with tomatoes, garlic and onions.
Cone will focus his baking skills on the restaurant’s focaccia, crostini, chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cake.
The restaurant will serve lunch and dinner with a happy hour to come in the future. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.
