The Vashon Park District commissioners will discuss bids to complete work at the VES Fields at their regularly scheduled meeting next week.
Sports teams have played on the fields since they opened in 2013, though further work is needed by this September to comply with the King County permit. Previous estimates to complete the project were $158,000. At the May 26 board meeting, however, park district Executive Director Elaine Ott stated that a recent review of the project with a representative from King County’s Department of Permitting and Environmental Review indicated that construction costs will likely be between $200,000 to $250,000.
The project is out to bid with a deadline of Tuesday, June 9. The commissioners will hold their regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. that evening at Ober Park and discuss the bids and next steps.
