The garden and art project, Eden Reframed, near the Burton Acres Recreation Center offers a place to contemplate the passing seasons and participate in a public art project that embraces permaculture principles, soil remediation, blossoms for bees and fruit for the picking. Created by former Vashon resident Beverly Naidus and reimagined last year as a pollinator garden, Eden suffered in this summer’s drought. Recently a tiny group of volunteers has established a watering schedule, and the plants have perked up.
All island residents and visitors are invited to visit the garden, investigate the story hive and enjoy the late-summer light. Do close the gate when you leave to keep deer from eating the plants.
For 2016, we envision even more flowering, scented herbs and new seating to enjoy them. If you’d like to help keep Eden vital, please get in touch. We need your involvement and welcome your vision.
