Jeffrey Zheutlin, the clinical director at Vashon Youth & Family Services (VYFS), has resigned from the agency, and the Washington State Department of Health has opened an investigation into his professional conduct.
Zheutlin had been with the agency for 22 years, first serving as a therapist and in the last decade overseeing the agency’s large counseling program, managing staff and carrying a small case load of clients, according to Kathleen Johnson, the executive director of VYFS.
He resigned on Sept. 29, and Greg Thompson, a counselor at the agency, has been assigned to be the interim clinical director. The agency will soon begin a search to fill that position on a permanent basis, Johnson said.
In addition to his work at VYFS, Zheutlin also offered therapy appointments through his home office.
At the dtate Department of Health, spokesman Marqise Allen said officials opened an investigation related to Zheutlin on Sept. 15. Until the investigation is complete — a process that could take a few months or longer — the agency will not comment on the investigation or what prompted it.
Johnson said VYFS is cooperating fully with investigators, but also declined to comment on the investigation.
Zheutlin did not return a call seeking comment.
