Recent delays failed residents

Wednesday morning, Oct. 21, is the most recent day the Washington State Ferry System failed its Vashon residents at the north-end dock. One hour and 54 minutes is an enormously long wait to get to Fauntleroy.

Wednesday morning, Oct. 21, is the most recent day the Washington State Ferry System failed its Vashon residents at the north-end dock. One hour and 54 minutes is an enormously long wait to get to Fauntleroy.

The ferry system gave residents a few minutes’ notice that the Issaquah (third boat) was out of commission for repairs.

Who makes these last-minute decisions and why do we put up with this? We don’t even hold the ferry system accountable. We don’t even know how.

The ferry system needs to become accountable to riders and not to a bureaucracy that cannot anticipate repairs and plan for the delays. Let’s see if the ferry system can do the math: 111 minutes times the number of riders equals X. That amount of lost time amounts to lost time with families and lost time to creativity and innovation. Is there anyone in Washington State who can fix this?
