Two 2004 Vashon High School graduates who have been studying film and video will show their latest films at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Vashon Theatre.

Admission is free, with donations accepted.

Andrew Franks, a recent University of Washington graduate, will show a seven-minute film, “Intermission,” which was his year-long thesis project.

The film tells the story of a man whose memory is impacted by a traumatic experience. According to Franks, the film explores the “ideas of recursion, the film noir genre and selective memory.”

“Unearthed,” a 25-minute film shot on 16mm and high definition video by Alexander Atkins, will also be shown.

The film is an account of a man who happens on a strange discovery in his backyard.

The film was Atkins’ junior thesis production at the The Conservatory of Film at Purchase College, State University of New York.

Atkins is on the dean’s list and is a scholarship student at the school.
