Vashon Winery will present its first Vashon Folk Festival on the winery grounds, starting at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, and continuing into the evening hours.

The winery is located at 10317 S.W. 156th St.

The festival’s lineup includes musicians from Vashon and beyond, including Robyn Landis, Mark Welles, Julie Mainstone, Bruce Singleton, The Hayburners and Larry Murante. Sharing top billing with Murante will be Vashon’s own Kat Eggleston.

Festival-goers will have a chance to kick up their heels at the end of the festival with back-to-back Cajun and ceili dances.

Organizers encourage attendees to bring a picnic to enjoy under the shade of the winery’s apple trees. A barbecue will be on hand so people can cook their own meat. Ribs and pulled pork created by Back Bay Inn executive chef Curtis will also be available for sale. Wine and vintage hard cider can be purchased from the winery.

A cover of $10 per person is requested to help cover costs of the event.

Reservations are requested so that the organizers can get an idea of how many people will attend.
