Write elected officials about GMOs

It’s time again to start writing our members of Congress about GMO labeling laws. There’s a bill before Congress, HR1599, and if it passes, states will lose the right to pass GMO labeling laws. This bill would keep people in the dark about GMOs, thus ensuring a growing number of GMO products in our country.

It is backed by the Grocery Manufacturers Association (Monsanto is a member) and the International Dairy Foods Association. Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kansas) recently introduced HR1599 in the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill’s sponsors call it the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act, but our side has labeled it the Deny Americans the Right to Know Act.

Please contact your federal representatives about this act. And also ask them to support S511 (HR913) introduced in the U.S. Senate by Barbara Boxer (D-California) and the U.S. House by Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Oregon). These bills would require mandatory labeling of GMOs.

Thank you.
