To clarify information in The Beachcomber on March 15 (“A simmering land dispute sets a family and the park district in opposition”), the property conversations began in 2007. On July 9, 2007, a letter was received from Vashon Park District responding to the Rosser’s June 2007 letter. Written by Wendy Braicks on behalf of David Hackett, the letter states, “I wanted to get back to you after I’d had a chance to share your letter of last week with David Hackett, the Park District Board President and the gentleman you met at the meeting. He wanted me to convey to you his assurance that there will be no circumstance where our plans would encroach on your property.”
Documentation of what King County has in files and Olympia regarding our claims of property lines beginning in 1864 is available for anyone to look at.
There is a purchase contract including “private roadway,” 1944, linen maps of 1925 and 1965 showing a private road as separate from the school parcel and a 1947 purchase agreement between schools and Pope & Talbot of parcel 202-303-9020 for $10. The Pope & Talbot purchase created the need for the easement/private roadway use in discussion and much more.
Our fence has been torn down by parks and a new fence erected, closing our easement in use since 1947 with the school district. Property lines contended by parks are over inches not feet — 18 1/2 inches at the northwest corner, four inches at the northeast corner.
