The recent blasphemous and contemptuous “Nuncracker” clearly parades once again the bigotry and intolerance the secular, so-called “progressives” on the Island have for Christian people in general and Catholics specifically. And the timing of this piece of work occurring during a very important time in the Christian faith cannot be ignored either.
Oh yeah, one can already hear the outrage and gnashing of teeth of these elitists as they attempt to defend this less than decent piece of work. Both the players and the patrons no doubt view themselves to be oh so enlightened as to see the wit and wisdom of such work and people of faith as a bunch of poor folks that just don’t get it.
Of course, most of these same individuals would also defend the outrageous “Crucifix in a jar of urine” or painting of the Virgin Mary covered in dung or any other such garbage as being oh so intellectually enlightening.
Oddly enough, one has to wonder if these self-same heroic thespians and patrons would have the courage to produce and patronize a similar effort mocking and ridiculing the Hindu or Buddhist faith lest they be thought of as insensitive or “political incorrect”; or a similar effort aimed at the Muslim Ramadan celebration, or the Black Kwanzaa celebration, lest they fear for their well-being from the “push-back” they would most certainly receive from those offended communities once it was discovered what was happening on this Island in the name of so called “art.”
But Christians/Catholics — hey, it’s open season on them because they don’t “push back.” Such is the tolerance and understanding of the “progressive” left on this Island and in this part of the world in general.
