A duo plays the Bike
Vashon favorites Kat Eggleston and Kevin Joyce will perform a free, all-ages show together at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Red Bicycle Bistro. It’s the first time the pair has performed together. Joyce’s CD, “Say It,” “is available on CD Baby. Eggleston has sung original and traditional music non-stop all over the U.S., Europe and Australia. She has recorded four solo CDs, a duet album with Kate MacLeod and a CD with the Irish band Bohola.
Portlanders play
Two acts from Portland will take the stage at Red Bicycle Bistro at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, for a free show. Hillstomp, a group that plays hillbilly blues stomp music, will headline the show. McDougall, an acoustic act, will open the show, which is for all ages until 11 a.m., and 21 and older after that.
A Vashon star rises
Former Islander Peter Jones, who grew up on Vashon, will appear on the NBC reality show, “The Sing Off,” with his a cappella group, Groove For Thought. It will begin airing on Monday and Wednesday evenings in December. The show is a five-night event premiering Monday, Dec. 6, and continuing on Dec. 8, 13 and 15. A live finale will take place on Monday, Dec. 20. Ten a capella groups, including Groove for Thought, will compete to win a Sony Music recording contract and $100,000.
