A new kind of arts experience is coming to Vashon, thanks to Jenni and Dave Wilke, who will present an interdisciplinary house concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Vashon Cohousing’s Common House.
The concert will feature singers, songwriters, musicians, a painter and a poet.
The show, said Jenni Wilke, is modeled on a concept called “The Round,” which has become popular in Seattle, Tacoma and Portland.
“The musicians and poet all take turns performing ‘in the round’ and the artist paints throughout the evening,” she said, adding that she hopes Saturday’s concert is the first of a series that will be presented.
Musicians and singers will include Islanders Mike Dumovich and Greg Dember. Lotte Kestner, who is in the Seattle band Trespassers William, will also sing. Matt Brown will accompany the singers on lap steel guitar.
“We have taken care to represent a musical aesthetic that isn’t often featured on the Island,” Jenni Wilke said.
Seattle poet Larry Crist and Tacoma artist Glory Cancro will complete the list of performers. Admission is $5 at the door.
