Guitarist Scott Huckabay will perform at Red Bicycle Bistro & Sushi at 9 p.m., Saturday, July 19.
Show organizer Pete Welch said he is excited to bring the performer back to Vashon Island.
Huckabay’s past Island performances have “absolutely stunned people,” said Welch. “Everyone is always struck by Huckabay’s mastery of the fretboard and the way his fingers fly up and down the neck of his acoustic guitar.”
Huckabay’s approach to playing the guitar is expansive. He uses a meteorite as a pick, a violin bow, an E-box and percussion in a blend of rock, blues and jazz.
Welch said he is in awe of Huckabay’s performance style.
“He uses a loop machine in his performances like no other person I’ve ever seen in my life,” he said. “His guitar is not wired. It’s on a remote, so he is free to roam while he plays. And roam he does, through the crowd and sometimes out the door and across the street, all the while playing his guitar through the speakers inside the venue.”
Huckabay has produced and recorded seven albums. To listen to his music and read more about him, visit www.scotthuckabay.com.
There is a $5 cover charge for Huckabay’s July 19 show at Red Bicycle Bistro. Al ages are welcome until 11 p.m, when the show becomes a 21 and older event.
