More gallery openings

The First Friday Gallery Cruise takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 5. Other gallery openings are listed on page 13.

Bob’s Bakery will show photographs by Vashon High School freshman Juliana Goth.

Books by the Way will show tall ship drawings by Chautauqua students in Esther Morrison’s class. There will also be performances of pirate storytelling and sea shanties.

Buddha Bar will show work by local photographer Calle Holcombe.

Creative Preschool will show new works by preschool-aged artists, and there will also be an art-making station for kids ages 2 to 5.

The Hardware Store Restaurant will show photography by John Anderson.

Heron’s Nest will show oil paintings by Kristen Reitz-Green.

The Little House will show “Arctic Art” by students in Sharon Boyer’s Chautauqua class. The work was created in a residency with artist Rose Belknap.

Valerie Willson’s paintings will be featured at Shady Lady Interiors. This is the gallery’s last show.

At Sound Food, art rendered from recycled metal by Randy Kirk will be shown, and The Magpies will play live music. Ron Irvine will also have a wine tasting.

Silverwood Gallery will continue its Flower Power invitational.

Treasure Island will show a retrospective of feature photography by former Seattle Post-Intelligencer photographer Mike Urban, marking the one year anniversary of the newspaper’s closure.

Vashon Bookshop will show work by Vashon Tile Guild.

The Vashon Senior Center will show Geri Peterson’s watercolors of flowers.

Vashon Tea Shop will continue its exhibit of silk paintings by Suzanna Leigh.

Vashon Tech Support will display photographs by Vashon High School senior Sy Bean.

Vashon Youth Council, 17311 Vashon Hwy. S.W., will have an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be food and youth art, and raffle tickets will be sold. The winner will receive $500 in cash.
