The Vashon Wilderness Program will host its ninth annual Storytelling Festival at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Open Space for Arts & Community.

Stacey Hinden, executive director of the Vashon Wilderness Program, wrote in a recent email that “storytelling is inseparable from human life.”

“For generations humans have been telling story, and the Storytelling Festival will stir the imagination … allowing our unconscious to take flight into sensuous realms of magic, myth and hero,” she wrote.

Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. for attendees to explore the Sensory Forest, make nature crafts and bid on the dessert auction. Stories will begin at 2 p.m. with storytellers Roger Fernandes, Bonny Moss and Ted Packard. Complimentary food and beverages will be served during intermission.

Proceeds from the event will support the Vashon Wilderness Program’s mission to provide nature immersion experiences for Puget Sound youth.
