Leave those 3D glasses at home and let the magic of the silver screen unfold before your eyes, at “A Night at Movies,” a show of work by students of the UMO School of Physical Arts, set to unspool at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 8, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Open Space for Arts & Community.

The show will include feats by more than 80 students, flowing in and around and above the audience, displaying their skills in aerial, parkour, acro, jiu-jitsu, and even skateboarding.

The acts, themes, and music in the show have all been arranged by the students — inspired by such films as “The Wizard of Oz,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Mary Poppins,” “Frozen,” “Star Wars” and more.

“A Night at the Movies” is the latest in a long series of annual student showcases presented by the UMO School.

Founded in 2007, the school has now served well over 1000 students, who have learned extraordinary skills and experienced wonder and artistry in UMO classes — with many going on to become performers, choreographers, and teachers themselves.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Youth tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Open Space recommends purchasing tickets early at openspacevashon.org, as these spring performance showcases generally sell out.
