Playground bullies have been with us since grade school. They have always been willing to take their ball and go home if the game didn’t go their way. Or if the ball didn’t belong to them, they would let the air out so nobody could play. The worst thing that can happen is to put the bully in charge of the playground.
The community has greatly benefited from the countless hours of volunteer service that the Vashon-Maury Island Community Council members and board members have expended. It appears the bully has created an environment in which volunteering exposes one to risk and liability. No one will want to lend a helping hand in any endeavor. Should it come to a vote, the community should vote against the bully and his apparent self-serving efforts to undermine the volunteers, who are working for the good of the Island.
