A man who fled from police on Saturday after ramming a patrol car with his truck and being fired at by police was arrested early Sunday morning on Vashon.

According to DB Gates, a spokeswoman for the King County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of felony assault, attempting to elude police and burglary. The deputy who fired the shots has been placed on administrative leave per King County policy.

The incident began at about 6 p.m. Saturday, when the King County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting domestic violence between a mother and her adult son.

Shortly after, the police received several more calls about the same suspect, reporting road rage, threats and vandalism.

At 6:45 p.m. a deputy located the suspect driving his pickup truck, but he refused to pull over and there was a short pursuit. The suspect rammed the deputy’s patrol car several times on the 9800 block of SW Windmill Road. The deputy fired several shots, but the suspect was not hit. The patrol car was disabled from the ramming and the suspect fled in his pickup, prompting a search by the sheriff’s office.

Several sheriff’s deputies from both on and off the island were called to Vashon assist in the search, and the public was asked to call 911 if the pickup truck was seen.

The suspect broke into an unoccupied house on the 24600 block of Dockton Road SW and was located by police at about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday. He attempted to run on foot, but was tasered and arrested.

The deputy-involved shooting will be investigated along with any crimes committed by the suspect. The suspect has not been charged with a crime and has not yet been named.
