Irish music masters to play in concert at Vashon Havurah

The Vashon Havurah will welcome Irish fiddle duo Nathan Gourley and Laura Feddersen in concert.

The Vashon Havurah will welcome a stellar Irish fiddle duo, Nathan Gourley and Laura Feddersen, in concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Joining them will be guitarist Brian Miller.

Both Gourley and Fedderson, from Boston, Massachusetts, are steeped in the lifelong study of the Irish musical tradition and at the same time, deeply influenced by their American roots.

They play in a distinctive style of twin fiddling, sometimes playing in taut unison or variously exploring chordal harmonies and rhythmic and melodic variations.

Brian Miller fell in love with Irish traditional music and song as a teenager in northern Minnesota and followed the music to its source in Ireland and its many strongholds in the U.S., playing with and learning from a rich assortment of tradition bearers along the way. When he’s not playing with Gourley and Feddersen, he performs with Bua, Danny Diamond, and The Lost Forty, a project that revives historic songs of Irish immigrants to the Midwest.

Gourley, Feddersen and Miller perform regularly at festivals throughout the U.S. and Ireland.

To reserve a seat for the concert, contact Jan Strolle at 206-228-0730 or janstrolle@comcast.net. Donations of $20 to $25 are appreciated. The Vashon Havurah is located at 1501 Westside Highway SW.
