The Drews play Café Luna

The Drews, an Americana/roots rock duo comprised of Andrew and Jen DiMartino, will play a free show from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Café Luna. Andrew wields a guitar and sings, while Jen adds accordion, bass, percussion and more vocals. The Drews have played venues all over the United States and Europe and draw from musical influences including folk, country, rock, blues and classic cartoon sountracks.

RhythmJoy hosts a sing-a-long

“RhythmJoy World Kirtan” will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Vashon Intuitive Arts, located at 17331 Vashon Hwy. Islanders can join Carol Lutra-Johns, Geoff Johns and friends in singing devotional call and response songs from around the world. Talented balladeers play Vashon

Cedron and N’Shama Sterling, two musicians who form the duo Triúir (a Scots Gaelic word that is pronounced “true ear“), will play a free show from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Café Luna. The vibrations of two voices and guitars, bouzouki, Celtic harp, Irish flute, whistle, recorder and piano, along with tar, dumbek and riqq (Middle Eastern percussion) will complement Triúir’s collection of traditional Elizabethan ballads, Celtic and medieval music, progressive folk and original songs.

A night of surf rock at the Bike

The surf rock band Shark Biscuit will have a free show at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Red Bicycle Bistro. Shark Biscuit plays music from the golden age of the 1950s and 60s, aiming to evoke memories of Dick Dale, the Belairs, the Chantays, the Ventures and Herb Alpert. Organizer Pete Welch describes the band as an “all-Vashon ensemble that parlays reverb-soaked guitar stylings, tribal drumming and rumbling bass lines with a powerful horn section and a rockin’ keyboard.” The show is for all ages until 11 p.m. and ages 21 and older after that.
