Vashon venues will overflow with musical acts in the next few days, with shows for every taste on tap.
Luna offers open mic and Ronnda Cadle
Café Luna’s open mic series will continue from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, with host David Ray encouraging everyone to get up in front of the audience.
The event’s featured band is Yes Mam, which includes Alex Davis, Graham Mayshark and Aedan Weber.
Another show is planned at the café for the weekend, when Camano Island singer/songwriter Ronnda Cadle returns to the café at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.
Cadle said her mentors are Nancy Wilson of Heart, and Caroline Aiken and Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls.
“I wouldn’t be the player I am today if it were not for these strong and amazing women,” said Cadle.

A music festival comes to Camp Burton
Hear the Indian pop rock of Manooghi Hi, the samba and bossa nova beats of the Kiko Freitas Quartet and the Cuban dance music of the Supersones at Vashon Allied Arts’ all-ages summer music festival, 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Camp Burton.

Balkan music comes to Vashon on Monday
The Village Green will come alive with a community dance and live music at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, when Mary Sherhart and Balkan Cabaret will perform a free world music concert.
It’s the fourth in a series of five free world music concerts sponsored and produced by
Vashon Park District and Vashon Folkdancers.
The evening will be a bring-your-own picnic affair, with participants urged to bring their own seats, blankets and picnic baskets that include non-disposable dishes and utensils. Families are encouraged to attend.
The evening will kick off with dance instruction from 6:30 to 7 p.m. After that, Mary Sherhart and Balkan Cabaret will perform music from Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia and Serbia. The group is an acclaimed Seattle-based five-piece ensemble, with instrumentation including violin, accordion, guitar, tambura, bugarija, double bass and vocals.

Shows roll into Bike
Red Bicycle has a full weekend of music planned, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, with a double-header of music by solo acoustic artist Mary Win and a Boulder, Colo.-based funk jam band called The Holden Young Trio.
Win was born in Bangkok, Thailand, to Burmese poli-tical refugees fleeing the military dictatorship in Myanmar, but the family settled in Seattle when she was 10 months old. She has written songs and performed since she was 15.
The Holden Young Trio is comprised of Holden Young, Eric Rolls and Billy Franklin. The group has toured from Telluride to Montana and released an album called “Steps To the Top” in 2008.
Friday’s show is free and open to all ages until 11 p.m., when it will become an event for ages 21 and older only.
The next night, Fishtank Ensemble will bring what is being billed as a “wild gypsy party” to the Bike, starting at 9:30 p.m Saturday, Aug. 8. The show is free and for ages 21 and older only.
The band includes violins, musical saw, flamenco and gypsy jazz guitar, trombone, opera, vocals, accordion and banjolele.
Sunday evening will bring a local band to the Bike’s stage — Turner Down will play a free all-ages show at 7 p.m.
