Dig Deep Gardens will host an Earth Day event from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 22, on the grounds of the gardens at 19028 Vashon Hwy. SW.
The day promises something for everyone — with talks, hands-on activities and performances for all ages, all presented with reverence for the earth and community.
Practice sustainability at the event by bringing your own mug or cup to fill up for free at the event’s Chai House, and then make your own flower headdress with Veronica Fernmoss to wear throughout the day.
Dig Deep’s Octopus Bar and Kitoko Gallery will be open throughout the event, serving simple snacks, soft drinks and adult beverages including fine wines, beers and cider. Aeggy’s food truck will also be on-site, offering fresh and local eats. Vendors selling earth-friendly wares will be on hand, as will local recycling expert Nadine Edelstein, who will help islanders learn how to get off the plastic train.
The Vashon-Maury Island Garden Club will participate by providing intriguing ideas on reusing various plastic containers in your garden. Club members will also collect attendees’ unwanted plastic gardening trays and pots for recycling at the event.
Join other community members in celebrating all the earth’s bounty and the joys of community, presented by Dig Deep Gardens in the spirit of helping to create a cleaner, happier and more loving world.
