Stephanie Anne Johnson, a powerhouse Americana/blues musician from Tacoma with a dedicated fan base on Vashon, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Open Space for Arts & Community.

The show is one of four in the Northwest to launch Johnson’s new album, “Jewels” — a tour to venues that includes The Triple Door, in Seattle, and The Alberta Rose Theatre, in Portland. Following these shows, Johnson will embark on a West Coast tour to southern California, and is also looking forward to several festival stops this summer.

Johnson is a Black, nonbinary artist who has opened for Mavis Staples, Allen Stone, Ani DiFranco, Black Joe Lewis and even Bernie Sanders, at the Tacoma Dome.

Johnson’s new album, “Jewels,” was produced by Jeff Fielder at Oliver Blue Studios in Seattle. Fielder, also a guitarist for The Indigo Girls, Amy Ray, and formerly Mark Lanegan, also plays most of the instruments on this record.

The first single from this album “Can’t Go Home” was released on Feb. 9, along with a heart-tugging music video, viewable at tinyurl.com/87cujr2w, that premiered in American Songwriter magazine online and was featured in prominent Spotify playlists like Indie Vibe 2023, and Feel Good Indie Folk.

Another single from the album, “The Day That You Begin,” was released on April 4.

The full album will be released on Friday, April 7 on all digital formats.
