Too Slim and the Taildraggers will play a free, family-friendly concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Ober Park. The band plays a danceable mix of blues and southern rock, and has been around long enough to have shared stages with the likes of Bo Diddley, Ted Nugent, Los Lobos, Travis Tritt, Junior Brown and Delbert McClinton. The concert is part of a series of concerts in the park, presented by Vashon Allied Arts and Vashon Park District.

The Diggers — Islanders Camille Coldeen, Nick Simmons and David and Danny Salonen — will show up for their monthly gig at Café Luna at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 9. The concert is free. That same evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Vashon Winery’s Ron Irvine will be on hand at the café to offer a wine tasting.

Gary Kanter, a Seattle-based singer and songwriter, will have a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at Café Luna. Kanter mixes serious songwriting with comedy and social commentary.

TV Dinner and vanNorman will play a free double bill starting at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at Red Bicycle Bistro. Island guitarist Chuck vanNorman will perform his original works, accompanied by Jason Everett on bass and vocals and Fletcher Andrews on percussion. TV Dinner — a new Vashon band that includes Pat Reardon, Steve Meyer, Dianne Krouse and Andre Sapp — blends jazz, blues, soul and rock to pay tribute to television and movie theme songs. The show is for all ages until 11 p.m. and 21 and older after that.

Mary Sherhart & Balkan Cabaret will perform a free, family-friendly concert with participatory folk dancing at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 12, at the Village Green. The concert is sponsored by Vashon Folkdancers and Vashon Park District. The band performs old Balkan standards heard in cafés more than 50 years ago.
