Art abounds all over town during gallery cruise

Check out a night market at Vashon Theatre, see a new art collection featuring islanders and their pets, and more.

Dig Deep

Local oil painter Pam Ingalls will present her 15th annual portrait show, “Facing Pets and Their People,” with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 5, in Dig Deep’s new Greenhouse Gallery. Local guitarist Daryl Redeker will serenade viewers.

“I wanted to depict the deep connection we have with our furry and feathery family members — there’s even a tortoise painting,” said Ingalls. “I’m hoping my paintings will bring some joy to these serious times, like the pets themselves do.”

The show is part of the VIVA Art Studio Tour taking place May 7, 8, 14 and 15.

Market at Vashon Theatre

I Love Vashon will present Vashon’s First Friday Night Market, which will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 6 at the Vashon Theatre Parking lot. Each month will focus on a different theme, with the month of May celebrating mothers.

This event will feature a beer, wine and cider garden, hot food, 22 local artists and vendors, and live music. The McMurray Middle School Choir and The Speakeasy Jazz Cats are slated to perform.

VALISE Gallery

In May, VALISE Gallery will present “Resilience,” an exhibit featuring the work of Vashon artists Rachel LordKenaga and Robert Passig. Both artists created works that explore the resilience of the natural world. The opening reception takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. For regular gallery hours, visit valisegallery.com.
