Senior attack Trenton Butt connected for four goals to lift Maple Valley to a 12-6 boy’s high school lacrosse win over Vashon Saturday evening, April 19, at Vashon High School.

Butt was among seven Maple Valley players to score, advancing his team to fourth-place with a record of 6-2-0 on the season.

Vashon dropped to 1-6-0 for the season. 

The match occurred in scattered snow showers and cold and was close through three quarters.

A charged-up Vashon defense led by senior Ian Blixt and sophomore Austin Franks held the Maple Valley offense in check.

Two goals from freshman Gregor Davidheiser and a goal apiece for juniors Cooper Loraas and Jack Lorence made it a 6-4 contest at half-time.

Vashon continued to stay within reach at the end of three quarters, 8-5.

But in the fourth quarter, penalties, missed shots and a failure to clear the ball out of the defensive end proved to be Vashon’s demise, according to Vashon coach Charley Rosenberry. 

Maple Valley pulled away for the win.

Loraas led the Vashon scoring with three goals and a wonderful assist to Davidheiser for his second goal, according to Rosenberry. Defender Austin Franks continues to draw praise from opposing coaches for his intelligent and tenacious defense, Rosenberry added.  

Vashon’s rugged schedule continues this week with away games against Puyallup, Roosevelt High School of Seattle and Eastlake.
